One World, One Heart.......

I totally missed this year's ONE WORLD, ONE HEART Giveaway! It's a shame, really, because I love to read other artist's blogs, and participate in the giving spirit. We have all been battling the latest airborne cold/flu that has seemed to spread through the city like wildfire these past few weeks. I was lucky to be in a position to afford lots of rest, and it wasn't as bad for me as it was for my son and boyfriend, who still had to go to school and work.

I worked a little in my craft room this week, mostly just touching up things we accidentally messed up when we installed the cabinets, like the wall paint, and caulking the gaps. I am planning to take on the laundry room this week, painting and making it an efficient work room, while simultaneously working in the craft room. Since the cats share the laundry room with the laundry, I decided to fancy it up a little. I bought the cutest pink and brown fabrics in toile prints, new cat beds, and found a seller on Ebay who makes her own ironing board covers in fun patterns.

I joined GrittyJane's Cloth and Clay Doll Workshop on Valentine's Day, but I haven't yet been granted membership privileges.... really a shame, because I had a free weekend to craft, which, in my recent world, is a rarity! I would have loved to have had a doll project waiting for me to work on this morning, but instead, I've been doing housework. :-( Perhaps I'll go make some pendants, later.

It's been a while, and BOY, things have changed......

.....since my last post; nearly a whole year! I hate that I've been MIA, but I've still managed to find time to read many of your posts, and do enjoy it. I find all of your artistic lives to be very interesting! I could spend all day and still not get everything done, and though I love blogging, it is time-consuming for me, and I find that time is the one thing I don't have a lot of. We did finally move, and took occupancy of our new house in June. So, in the past year, I have renovated TWO homes, and I'm still in the process of renovating the second! Each time, it was very hard work, but I have loved every minute of it, and nothing is more satisfying to me that the completion of a major undertaking, such as a home renovation.

Thank goodness I LOVE to renovate (it's what I like to call my "other" form of artistic expression), as every room of this house needs an upgrade or three!

My boyfriend recently finished my brand new CRAFT ROOM!!!!!! It's the first "dedicated space" that I have ever had to devote to crafting, and I love it! I have moved all my stuff from the dining room, where it has been stored since June, and I'm still in the process of organizing my things and filling the drawers and cabinets with all my artistic treasures. It is QUITE stuffed right now, let me tell you! But as soon as I get those boxes unpacked, it will finally begin to make sense (I hope). Meanwhile, here are some pictures of the progress as it unfolded:

I will post my "after" pics very soon: just be patient as I put a few more things away! 20 feet of continuous countertop space, and almost every square inch of it is still stacked high with still-packed boxes!

In my whole life, no one has ever worked harder for me out of sheer love and desire for me to be happy than my boyfriend, Tim..... and I absolutely LOVE my brand new space!

"One World, One Heart" givaway!

I have been a lurker as of late; reading other artist's blogs, and not really paying much attention to my own, but I heard of this giveaway, and I decided to post a giveaway of my own.
It's a soldered art glass ornament with a print of an original painting done by me, Freya. The original painting sold on Ebay recently, but, as I often do, I create other artistic pretties from paintings I have done in the past. This one was of an expectant mother-to-be in her new baby's nursery, and is part of a series I've been doing of landmarks in a woman's life. It is 2"x2", made with lead-free solder, and is mirrored on the back, with a jump ring soldered on at the top, for easy hanging.
I used this size on my christmas tree most recently, but you can use them anywhere, all year long.... Just use your imagination!
All you have to do for a chance to win this giveaway is comment to this post (a nice one, please!).... I will draw the winner and post it on Valentine's Day!
Good Luck, everyone!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hello, everyone.... and thanks for dropping by!

I am Freya; folk artist, massage therapist, mom, girlfriend, big-time scrapbooker, Katrina Survivor, and now, BLOGGER. ;-)

I am very new to this blogging thing, so I will be learning as I go..... please be patient with me while I am learning!

I have been making art ever since I could hold a crayon. Over the course of my lifetime, it has had its ebbs and flows. I have painted on canvas, furniture, walls, and just about anything else that can be painted. I have been selling my artworks on Ebay here and there in recent years, in local art-sy shops in and around New Orleans in the past, and I participate in a local monthly art walk in my new locale, where the whole town can purchase my art. I am lucky to have come into a lot of time, recently, to devote to creating art, which has been great for me.

Anything can inspire me, at anytime. I have a notebook I take everywhere I go; whenever I see or think of something that seems like an idea I can run with, I write it down or sketch it out real quickly. With any luck, someday, it will become a work of art.

I also enjoy collecting original art from other artists. I have a HUGE collection of art, and never enough room to display all of it. :-( That doesn't seem to stop me from buying more, though!
I guess I just need a bigger house. :-P I love anything pretty.

Once I learn how, I will post some photos. Thanks for visiting!
